It is extremely important to our family to use low tox products when we can, and this recipe is quick, easy, and fits all of the criteria for a healthy cleaner for our home.
My husband cannot stand the smell of vinegar, so I was hesitant to make a cleaner with a vinegar base, but he actually doesn’t mind this one at all!!
Benefits of Cleaning with Vinegar
- Vinegar is safe. Most cleaners are filled with chemicals that can hurt or irritate your eyes, skin, airways, endocrine receptors, and more. Cleaning with vinegar can help relieve some of your anxiety when it comes to children and cleaning products.
- Vinegar is inexpensive. Vinegar is easy and cheap to find at most stores. In this recipe you will see how it can be mixed with other natural and inexpensive products to make an effective non-toxic cleaner. Still keep your cleaners out of reach of children as a safety precaution always.
- Vinegar is a natural disinfectant. Vinegar eliminates most nasty smells and is quite effective on hard water stains in bathrooms.
- Vinegar is environmentally friendly. Did you know that using other household cleaners can create pollution right inside your home? If you’re like me and like to give the surfaces of your home a good wipe down at the end of the day, you could be releasing lots of toxic substances into the air of your home. By making your own cleaners with vinegar you are also helping decrease the amount of waste created by many empty spray bottles.
- The uses are endless. You can use vinegar for laundry, drain cleaning, bathroom disinfectants, windwo cleaners, dishwasher liquid, and more!

3 Ingredient All Purpose Cleaner

Ingredients:
- Citrus Peels
- White Vinegar
- Essential Oils
You will need:
- Large Mason Jar
- Funnel
- Label + Marker
- Spray Bottle
I purchased these screw on spray bottle tops (#ad) which fit perfectly on Health Aid Kombucha bottles.
I have also used these First you will need to gather all of your citrus peels and pack them into your large jar. Here are some ideas for things to do with the rest of your citrus: Oranges: Lemons: Limes: I like to keep a bag of my peels until I have enough. I keep them in the fridge until I am ready to use them. Next, pour white vinegar over your peels. You want to make sure that they are completely covered. The smell of vinegar can be off putting, but I promise that by the end of this it won’t be a problem! The citrus really masks the smell of the vinegar and also adds a great punch of antibacterial properties. Place the lid on the jar and place it in a dark place. It will stay here for 2-3 weeks. After your vinegar and citrus has set, pull it out and use a funnel to add to your spray bottle. I had been saving our kombucha bottles for the day when I decide to make our own kombucha. Even without a spray bottle attachment, they would make a great bottle for holding my extra cleaning solutions. Adding an essential oil is completely optional, but I really like to add 5-10 drops of On Guard Essential Oil. You can purchase labels, print your own, or grab some paper or sticky notes and tape them to your spray bottle. You can use this all purpose spray on just about any surface in your home! We use it for our bathroom and countertops. Let me know below if you have tried it and what you thought! What should we DIY next?!3 Ingredient All Purpose Cleaner
